In 2025, we’re more connected than we’ve ever been. And yet, somehow, more disconnected too.
We message, swipe, voice note, and Zoom. We join group chats, share updates, and post our professional highlights. Our calendars are full of virtual meetings, our inboxes overflowing, and our attention constantly split across tabs and apps and screens. And still, something is missing.
Because the truth is, for all its convenience, digital connection has its limits. It rarely offers the spark, the subtlety, or the depth of what happens when we sit across from someone, face to face.
After COVID, we promised ourselves we’d value in-person connection more. For a while, we did. There was a surge of gratitude for handshakes and eye contact and the simple joy of hearing someone laugh next to you, not through a screen. But slowly, we drifted. Back to the busy. Back to the inbox. Back to defaulting to convenience.
Now, in this strange and fast-moving post-COVID era, many people are quietly craving more. Not more screen time. Not more LinkedIn posts or digital coffee chats. But more of what feels real. Real presence. Real conversation. Real connection.
Because here’s the thing. The most interesting, unexpected, and often valuable shifts don’t happen on Slack or Zoom. They happen at dinner. They happen walking to the bar with someone you’ve just met. They happen in a moment of shared understanding, where the conversation moves beyond titles and into something more human.
That’s where trust begins. That’s where new ideas land. That’s where partnerships are born.
In-person connection doesn’t need to be big or grand. It just needs to be intentional. A room thoughtfully filled. A table set for conversation. The right people, present and open.
We see this time and again at our events. Whether it’s at a drinks party or a more intimate Founders Dinner, something shifts when people show up in person. They speak differently. They listen more. They ask better questions. And they walk away feeling clearer, lighter, re-energised. Not just professionally, but personally too.
In a world that’s speeding up and becoming more digitally efficient by the day, in-person connection might feel like a luxury. But really, it’s a necessity. For our work. For our growth. For our sanity.
So if you’ve been feeling flat, stuck, or simply hungry for something more grounded, step away from the inbox. Put down the phone. Say yes to the event you were unsure about. Go and meet people. Sit at the table. Say something unexpected. Be fully present.
You never know what door it might open.
